The use and misuse of drugs and alcohol among teenagers is a growing global concern, especially in educational settings where young people spend much of their time. Talipapa High School, like many other institutions, is not exempt from these issues. Drug and alcohol use on school grounds poses serious risks to students’ safety, health, and academic performance. It disrupts the learning environment, leading to absenteeism, disciplinary problems, and even criminal behavior. Strengthening security measures to prevent drug and alcohol use is vital to maintaining a safe and conducive learning environment. Schools are increasingly vulnerable to the infiltration of illicit substances, which threaten both student well-being and school order.
This study aims to strengthen the security measures for drug and alcohol prevention in Talipapa High School. Specifically, it seeks to examine respondents’ profiles in terms of age, sex, civil status, and educational attainment. The research involved seventy (70) participants divided into three (3) groups: sixty-three (63) teachers, three (3) non-teaching staff, and four (4) security personnel. This study employed a descriptive–evaluative research design, which involves collecting data to describe and analyze participants’ current conditions. The approach uses empirical data to address the research problem without focusing on cause-and-effect relationships. Through the descriptive method, the researchers gathered and analyzed data to characterize the population and the factors influencing security measures against drug and alcohol use. Findings revealed that most respondents were aged nineteen to thirty-two (19–32), representing the largest age group among participants. The study emphasizes the importance of strengthening security measures to prevent drug and alcohol use at Talipapa High School. Improved monitoring, awareness programs, and collaboration among teachers, staff, and security personnel are essential to creating a safer school environment for all students.
