Abstract

The SMS Cashier System is a digital financial management platform developed to streamline payment transactions at Bestlink College of the Philippines. It addresses key operational challenges in payment processing, billing, and financial reporting by replacing traditional manual methods with automated functions. The system features secure, multi-option payment processing, automated billing and receipt generation, and real-time reporting tools designed to enhance institutional efficiency. The system was developed using the Agile methodology, which supports iterative, collaborative, and user-centered development. Continuous engagement with end-users—including students, cashiers, and administrative staff—allowed for the creation of a system tailored to the college’s specific financial management requirements. Functional modules were refined across each development sprint based on feedback and testing. The implementation of the SMS Cashier System led to substantial improvements in financial operations. The platform effectively resolved previous challenges in delayed payment processing, manual computation errors, and limited reporting visibility. Real-time tracking of transactions, automated fee calculations, and instant receipt issuance were fully integrated into the system. Users reported high satisfaction with system performance, usability, and reliability. The SMS Cashier System significantly enhanced financial management practices at Bestlink College by automating core processes such as payments, billing, and reporting. The payment module accommodates multiple transaction channels with real-time security validation. The billing feature ensures error-free fee computation and document generation, while the reporting module provides administrators with up-to-date financial data and audit trails for informed decision-making. High user adoption and positive feedback indicate the system’s success in improving operational accuracy, speed, and accountability.
