EFFECTIVENESS OF BARANGAY ANTI-DRUG CAMPAIGN PROGRAM IN PREVENTING ILLEGAL DRUGS AT BARANGAY FAIRVIEW, QUEZON CITY: A PROPOSAL

Abstract

The purpose of this research study is to evaluate the effectiveness of the "Barangay Fairview Anti-Drug Campaign" in reducing illegal drug activities in Barangay Fairview, Quezon City. This research aims to assess how successful the anti-drug campaign programs have been in decreasing the presence of illegal drugs in the community. Additionally, the study will explore the challenges and lessons learned during the implementation of the campaign, providing insights that can help improve similar anti-drug initiatives in other communities. The researchers employed a descriptive method to assess the effectiveness of the Barangay Anti-Drug Campaign Program in preventing illegal drug use in Barangay Fairview, Quezon City. The objective is to provide an overview of the current situation, phenomenon, or population involved. Using a descriptive quantitative research design, the study engaged a total of fifty respondents, including ten Barangay officials, ten law enforcement officers, and thirty residents, selected through random sampling. Survey questionnaires were used as the primary instrument for data collection. The results highlight key findings regarding the effectiveness of the Barangay Anti-Drug Campaign Program in preventing illegal drug activity in Barangay Fairview, Quezon City. Respondents assessed the program as "Effective" based on the variables outlined in statement number 2 of the problem. However, they also encountered significant challenges, such as a lack of sufficient funding and issues related to corruption.   To enhance the effectiveness of the Barangay Anti-Drug Campaign, it is recommended that law enforcement participate in Barangay general assemblies, as their involvement is crucial for preventing illegal drug activities. In conclusion, the Barangay Fairview officials should work closely with law enforcement to strengthen the Anti-Drug Campaign. They should also organize regular meetings focused on drug awareness and prevention to encourage community members to actively participate in general assemblies. By attending these meetings, residents can voice their concerns about drug-related issues. Additionally, during these gatherings, law enforcement can provide updates on drug-related incidents, share prevention strategies, and discuss ways to support individuals struggling with addiction.
