Abstract

Juvenile involvement in criminal activities remains a significant concern in today’s society. Factors such as neglect, abuse, and mistreatment often contribute to the delinquent behavior of children. In response, intervention programs offer a more productive approach to addressing and preventing future delinquency. This study aims to assess the effectiveness of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Intervention Program for Children in Conflict with the Law (CICL) in Caloocan City. This study adopts a descriptive research design and utilizes purposive sampling. A total of 50 respondents residing in Caloocan City participated in the survey. Authorization to conduct the survey was obtained through the research adviser. The respondents completed a structured questionnaire, which was later retrieved and analyzed to assess the effectiveness of the intervention programs provided by the DSWD. The findings revealed that the DSWD intervention program was rated as effective, with respondents strongly agreeing on the program components such as mentoring, intensive supervision, and cognitive behavioral therapy. However, the most commonly cited issue was the lack of a clear, structured plan outlining each phase of intervention, including specific goals and expected outcomes. The study also identified an existing action plan to address this gap in the program. The study summarized the collected data and presented conclusions on the effectiveness of the DSWD’s intervention efforts for CICL in Caloocan City. Based on the findings, recommendations were provided to enhance program structure and delivery. This includes the need for a more detailed and goal-oriented framework to guide the intervention process. The study reinforces the value of structured, rehabilitative programs in supporting the reintegration and development of children in conflict with the law.
