Abstract

This study investigates the existing recreational activities at the Quezon City Memorial Circle, with an emphasis on improving cleanliness and safety within the area. As a prominent destination for both local residents and tourists, the park hosts a range of activities, including sports, walking, and cultural events. Despite its popularity, concerns have been raised regarding inadequate sanitation and safety measures, particularly in terms of waste management, security presence, and emergency response systems. These issues underscore the need for a comprehensive assessment of current conditions and the development of practical, sustainable solutions to enhance the overall recreational experience and ensure a safer, more welcoming environment for all visitors. This study collected data through surveys and interviews with local tourists to gain insights into their experiences and overall satisfaction with the Quezon City Memorial Circle. It specifically examined the condition of essential park facilities such as playgrounds, restrooms, walkways, and food stalls, as well as the effectiveness of existing sanitation and safety measures. The results revealed recurring concerns, including poorly maintained restrooms, insufficient waste disposal systems, and safety issues in certain areas. These problems negatively affect visitor satisfaction and underscore the need for strategic improvements to ensure a cleaner, safer, and more enjoyable environment for all park users. Drawing from the study's findings, several key enhancements are proposed to improve sanitation and safety within the Quezon City Memorial Circle. For sanitation, the recommendations include the implementation of an improved waste management system, the regular and systematic cleaning of public spaces, and the installation of additional trash bins in high-traffic areas. To address safety concerns, the study suggests increasing the visibility and frequency of security patrols, upgrading lighting in dimly lit sections of the park, and ensuring that all facilities are properly maintained and promptly repaired when needed. These proposed measures aim to enhance the overall visitor experience by fostering a cleaner, safer, and more comfortable environment. This study seeks to contribute to the enhancement of the Quezon City Memorial Circle by promoting a cleaner, safer, and more inviting environment for all visitors. By addressing existing issues related to sanitation and safety, the park can continue to serve as a well-loved recreational destination while ensuring the comfort and well-being of the public. The recommended improvements aim not only to preserve the park’s attractiveness but also to support its long-term sustainability as a vital community space.
