Writing is a fundamental skill in learning a foreign language, particularly for English language learners. It is essential in academic settings, as it enables students to express ideas, emotions, arguments, and plans with clarity and precision. Effective writing requires the ability to analyze information, apply appropriate vocabulary, and use correct grammar, sentence structure, spelling, and punctuation. Although academic writing differs from fiction in style and purpose, both forms demand coherence, organization, and careful attention to language. This study adopted a descriptive-quantitative research design to analyze the perceptions of the respondents. A total of 212 Grade 12 Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS) students from Bestlink College of the Philippines participated in the study, selected through a quota sampling technique. Data were gathered using a researcher-made survey questionnaire. To address the research questions, the study employed various statistical tools, including frequency and percentage, mean, ranking, Slovin’s formula, and a four-point Likert scale. Responses were interpreted using the following scale: Strongly Agree, Agree, Disagree, and Strongly Disagree. The findings of the study reveal that Grammarly was identified as the most effective digital tool for modern writing, with 196 respondents (18.46%) selecting it. Furthermore, students assessed modern writing in terms of vocabulary, grammar, and critical thinking with an overall weighted mean of 3.43, which falls under the interpretation of Strongly Agree. Lastly, an action plan was proposed to address the challenges encountered in assessing and utilizing digital tools for modern writing among Grade 12 Humanities and Social Sciences students at Bestlink College of the Philippines. The study identified Grammarly as the most effective digital tool in modern writing, with 196 respondents (18.46%) selecting it. Students strongly agreed that digital tools enhance writing performance, particularly in vocabulary development, grammar accuracy, and critical thinking. Based on these findings, the study recommends that modern writing instruction should incorporate reliable and relevant digital resources to support academic learning. Educators are encouraged to promote the use of online platforms to help students improve their writing skills, especially in structuring essays and organizing ideas effectively in a digital format.
