Abstract

The practice of changing jobs to another job, especially as a means of quick financial gain and
career development, is the common definition of job-hopping experience. This experience
brings significant changes and impacts to the job satisfaction of employees in the business
process outsourcing (BPO) industry, which has the highest employment rate in the
Philippines. In addressing and exploring the impact of job-hopping experience on job
satisfaction, researchers used the Range of affect theory, which was introduced in 1976 to
present the aspect of changing jobs to another and the level of satisfaction of an individual.

As a result of the discussion, researchers find that the BPO industry offers a lot of
opportunities, and that is why this industry has a lot of employees due to the above minimum
salary. Some employee shifted from one BPO company to another company to gain
experiences and skills that will help them improve their work performance and also to find a
much higher wage. Female employees have a higher percentage than male employees with
55%; most of the employees are working permanently and not fixed-term/contract or
temporary. However, 85% of the employees are in their current position within 6 to 24 months
because of changing jobs recently to find a better work environment.

In addition, the respondents answered that they prefer jobs that compensate well and with
benefits; employees also value an environment that has policies regarding discrimination and
gender. Equality. The suggestions indicate that BPO companies should focus on creating a
positive working culture that fosters employee engagement and job satisfaction. This can be
achieved by promoting open communication and recognizing employees’ achievements.
