This study aimed to learn about the parenting style practices of parents with physical
challenges. The researchers want to give enough attention to these parents with disabilities
on how they apply their parenting style to their children even though they face a lot of
difficulties and challenges. Knowing the most effective and best parenting method for those
who are physically challenged parents. Every piece of information the researchers acquire will
surely aid the field and help better comprehend this complicated phenomenon. This will need
the creation of treatment interventions today and shortly.
The researcher’s data collected in this study reveals most of the respondents are between the
ages of 35 and 49 years old, with the majority of physical disabilities being polio, many of them
are high school undergraduates, and they are mostly male. Most of the respondents’
parenting styles are authoritarian. The respondents in this study faced many difficulties in
handling the children, but the respondent’s physical disabilities did not prevent them from
applying their parenting styles to the children in the same way that other parents do.
The researchers found that using an Authoritarian parenting style is the best method to apply
to their children in their situation. With proper parenting, children will grow to appreciate their
parents' situation and will never become a burden to their family, so the difficulties and
challenges of parents with disabilities in managing their children can be eliminated or at least
reduced. The researchers would recommend the study to parents with disabilities and future
researchers to have more studies involving parents with disabilities.
