Abstract

Illegal gambling refers to any type of gambling activity that is conducted in violation of laws or
regulations. It is a significant problem in many parts of the world, and efforts are being made to
combat it through law enforcement and educational campaigns. However, it remains a
persistent issue that continues to affect many people. This study aimed to investigate the
effects of illegal gambling on the residents of Barangay 188, Caloocan City.

The study found that illegal gambling has significant social, psychological, and socioeconomic
impacts on the residents of Barangay 188. The respondents reported various problems,
including financial losses, mistrust among community members, difficulties in maintaining
employment, and higher rates of illegal activities and unemployment.

Based on the findings, the study identified several recommendations to address the negative
effects of illegal gambling, including programs to improve barangay prevention, determine the
negative effects of illegal gambling, provide counseling, conduct awareness-raising seminars,
and involve community participation. The findings of this study can be used to develop
targeted interventions and programs aimed at reducing the negative impact of illegal gambling
on the community and to advocate for policy changes aimed at reducing its prevalence in the
area.
