Abstract

English is a universal language that is commonly used by different people to communicate with one another. In learning this language, speaking English is one of the difficulties that are encountered by students because they regularly use the Filipino language. This difficulty has effects on students regarding their academic performances. The researchers used qualitative and descriptive research methods to determine the effects of difficulties in speaking English. The primary instrument used to gather data was a survey questionnaire. The result of the study was based on the assessment made by Grade 12 Humanities and Social SciencesStrandstudents about the effects of difficulties in speaking English on their academic performances. Based on findings, students have difficulties in vocabulary, which affects their class participation.
