Abstract

The aim of this research is to evaluate the livelihood initiative for individuals deprived of liberty in Valenzuela City Jail concerning amenities, tools, and financial resources. The livelihood initiative seeks to initiate changes that can enhance the attitudes, behaviors, knowledge, and skills of the PDL through the initiative. The goal of this is to equip them with a new range of skills and knowledge through education. This research employed a purposive sampling method, which included 20 jail staff and 40 individuals deprived of their liberty at Valenzuela City Jail, amounting to a total of 60 participants. The tool we utilized was a custom-designed questionnaire featuring queries pertinent to the study. This research explores the respondents’ evaluation of the livelihood program in Valenzuela City Jail. According to the results, the assessment of the livelihood program in Valenzuela City Jail, based on the respondents’ insights regarding facilities, shows a high degree of satisfaction and approval. The assessment of the resources for the livelihood program in Valenzuela City Jail demonstrates a high degree of satisfaction and consensus among the respondents. Furthermore, it indicates that the resources supplied for the program satisfy the needs of the participants. The appraisal of the funding for the livelihood program in Valenzuela City Jail was mostly viewed favorably. The primary issue highlighted by the respondents is the inadequate promotion of their products, suggesting a major obstacle in effectively marketing and selling their items. This emphasizes the need to address challenges to product promotion in order to improve participants’ economic results, sustainability, and their livelihood efforts. This research suggests that the livelihood initiative ought to be carried out in a manner that allows employed PDL to earn sufficient income to sustain themselves and their families
