Abstract

Students’ educational success is contingent upon their relationships with peers, which affect learning, social interaction, and overall well-being. A positive influence from peers fosters engaged learning and participation, thus cultivating a supportive atmosphere. Conversely, negative relationships may lead to anxiety, distraction, and diminished self-worth, all of which can obstruct academic achievement. Recognizing these dynamics can enhance educational outcomes and student wellness by promoting positive peer relationships and academic development. The researchers designed this study to assess the effect of Student Peer Relationships on their academic performance among grade 11 Humanities and Social Sciences students at the Bestlink College of the Philippines Millionaires Village Campus, Barangay San Agustin Novaliches, Quezon City. This study will be advantageous for students, educators, parents, school administration, researchers, and future researchers. The research utilized a descriptive quantitative research method of design and a simple random sampling technique, involving 150 grade 11 humanities and social sciences students at Bestlink College of the Philippines. The researchers utilized a questionnaire as a tool for data collection, and the statistical tools used included frequency and percentage, weighted mean, ranking, and Slovin’s formula to determine the sample size from the population. According to the findings, the relationship among students impacts their academic success regarding class participation, engagement, and the learning environment. Furthermore, the impact of the student peer relationship is advantageous for the respondents. The conclusions drawn from the summary of the findings indicate that Grade 11 Humanities and Social Sciences students firmly agreed that peer interactions influence class participation, interaction, and the classroom environment, and strongly concurred that peer influence is advantageous for the respondents, along with a proposed action plan regarding the impact of student peer relationships on their academic performance. The recommendations that may be provided as a consequence of the conclusions suggest that students ought to foster positive peer interactions to enhance academics, and students should proactively cultivate strong peer relationships and establish social media guidelines for study sessions that highlight learning; finally, engaging with educators and counselors to enhance personal skills, as well as participation in group activities to bolster social skills, could promote well-being and academic achievement.
