Abstract

In recent years, there has been a growing interest in home technology designed to enhance convenience and provide easy access to essential services. One such innovation is the “Sustaining Air Quality and Flammable Gas Detection System using Arduino UNO with Air Purifier and Solar Back-Up Energy Supply.” This device is capable of detecting various types of air pollutants, including Nitrogen Dioxide, Smoke, Carbon Monoxide, House Dust, and Fuel-Burning Combustion, as well as flammable gases such as LPG, Butane, Methane, Ammonia, and Propane.  Maintaining clean air and ensuring safety from flammable gases are crucial to protecting both human health and the environment. In addition to monitoring air pollution, detecting flammable gases is essential for preventing potential hazards and ensuring safety in both residential and industrial settings. This system highlights the importance of effective air quality management and the need for reliable gas detection to safeguard people and enhance workplace safety. This study adopts the Experimental Prototyping Method for system design, where a prototype will be developed, tested, and refined to achieve a satisfactory outcome. Data collection for the project will include a clear schematic diagram of the design, the control system used, the assembly process, and the required materials. In addition, surveys will be conducted to gather feedback and insights. For data analysis, the study will use the Purposive Sampling Method, selecting 50 respondents to provide relevant statistical information. The real-time monitoring system for air quality is functioning properly, alongside four sensors responsible for detecting flammable gases. The buzzer is integrated with the microcontroller and sensors, which assess the current conditions and alert users when necessary, ensuring a secure and healthy indoor environment. These four sensors effectively detect different types of smoke and gases. Additionally, the LCD display shows the real-time air quality and gas levels, providing clear indications of the current indoor conditions. The integration of the Arduino Uno microcontroller in the system for sustaining air quality and detecting flammable gases offers a practical solution to the ongoing challenges of urban air pollution and safety risks. By combining real-time monitoring, automatic responses, and the use of renewable energy, this system provides an effective way to reduce air pollution and improve safety in both indoor and outdoor spaces.
