Abstract

This study explores the relationship between workplace dynamics and how gender capabilities influence job performance among employees in the tourism and hospitality industry. It examines gender and age stereotypes in hiring processes and highlights the impact of gender on job satisfaction and turnover. The study emphasizes the importance of gender equality for employees and organizations, advocating for an intersectional approach to understanding biases. Additionally, it examines how motivations, perceptions of success, and stereotypes influence career outcomes and employee well-being in the tourism industry, promoting equal opportunities and a goal-oriented approach over direct comparisons. The researchers gathered data from fifty (50) employees in the tourism industry, consisting of 25 male and 25 female respondents. Data collection was conducted through survey questionnaires distributed via Google Forms. The collected data was analyzed using frequency, average weighted mean, and ANOVA. The study focused on five factors affecting gender capabilities: recruitment, employment status, performance, commitment, and retention. The analysis revealed that most respondents strongly agreed on the five factors affecting gender capabilities. Gender played a significant role in shaping workplace experiences, with recruitment and employment status emerging as the most influential factors. The findings suggest that gender capabilities impact job satisfaction, career progression, and employee retention in the tourism industry. The study identified various challenges employees face in the tourism sector related to gender dynamics. Based on the findings, the researchers proposed recommendations and an improvement plan to address issues such as bias, discrimination, and workplace inequality. It is recommended that companies in the tourism industry implement seminars and training programs to prevent racism, discrimination, harassment, bias, and bullying.
