Abstract

The purpose of this study is to identify the challenges faced by business owners in the vicinity of Bestlink College of the Philippines and how these challenges impact their operations. Many business owners, especially those near schools, face intense competition and often sell similar products based on student demand. This competitive environment makes it particularly difficult for small businesses to generate substantial profits. This study employed a descriptive research design, which is aimed at methodically gathering data to characterize a specific phenomenon, condition, or group. The primary focus is to address questions related to "what," "when," "where," and "how" concerning the research issue, rather than exploring the underlying reasons behind it. The researchers used a descriptive quantitative approach, utilizing a survey questionnaire to directly answer the research question and easily identify the criteria under each variable being studied. The results of this study revealed several key challenges faced by business owners in the vicinity of Bestlink College of the Philippines. In terms of pricing, business owners reported a mean score of 3.44, highlighting the importance of offering promotions and discounts to attract customers. Regarding product-related challenges, a mean score of 3.14 indicated the difficulty in balancing production costs with the prices at which products are sold. Service-related challenges were ranked higher, with a mean score of 3.58, emphasizing the significance of providing exceptional customer service to stand out in the competitive market. Quality control also presented a challenge, with a mean score of 3.28, stressing the need to maintain consistency in both products and services. Finally, location-related challenges scored 3.34, suggesting that while businesses in the area experience higher foot traffic, they also face intense competition from neighboring businesses.  Based on these findings, the study recommends that business owners focus on preserving and developing a positive image for their business. It is important for them to avoid manufacturing errors, ensure the business requirements are met, and provide a strategic plan to encourage customer engagement. Furthermore, a well-executed promotional strategy can improve business effectiveness and enhance customer retention. In conclusion, this study provides valuable insights into the factors affecting the operations of business owners near Bestlink College of the Philippines. By identifying key challenges such as pricing, product consistency, service quality, and competition based on location, the research offers practical solutions. The proposed action plan encourages business owners to focus on creating a positive business image, ensuring product and service quality, and developing effective promotional strategies. By addressing these challenges strategically, business owners can improve their operations, enhance customer engagement, and foster long-term success in a competitive market.
