This study examines the role of physical education in fostering physical, mental, and social development among students, emphasizing its impact on their overall well-being. Physical education activities such as dancing, fitness exercises, and team sports contribute to health preservation, teamwork, and enjoyment while reducing the risk of diseases. These classes play a crucial role in encouraging students to engage in lifelong physical activities, positively influencing their health and academic performance. This study employed a descriptive research design. Using purposive sampling, 50 first-year English major students at Bestlink College of the Philippines were selected as respondents. A survey questionnaire served as the primary data collection tool. Data analysis involved the use of frequency, percentage, weighted mean, a four-point Likert scale, and ranking to interpret the gathered information. The study revealed that the respondents comprised 25 male and 25 female first-year English major students aged 18 to 20. Most participants engaged in physical activities to enhance their strength, maintain physical and mental health, and promote wellness. Additionally, participation in physical education contributed to improved time management, teamwork, and academic performance. However, respondents reported a lack of competence and confidence. Strategies such as positive affirmations, self-reflection, and skill development were identified as key contributors to building confidence and encouraging continuous learning. The study highlights the perceived impact of physical education on first-year students, demonstrating its role in improving physical fitness and academic performance. It emphasizes the importance of integrating diverse physical activities that cater to various interests and abilities, fostering inclusivity, and recognizing individual and team achievements. The curriculum's focus on skill development, fundamental competencies, and challenging activities contributes to professional growth and overall well-being. By adopting structured principles, students can enhance their learning competencies and maximize the benefits of physical education.
