Abstract

This study aims to explore the beliefs and perspectives of women who have experienced violence in Barangay Payatas B, Quezon City, in order to gain insights into the underlying factors and how these beliefs influence their coping mechanisms and responses to such experiences." This study utilized a descriptive research method. The respondents were categorized into three groups: fifteen (15) barangay personnel, fifteen (15) members of the VAWC (Violence Against Women and Children) PNP, and twenty (20) individuals from the community who have experienced VAWC, for a total of fifty (50) respondents. A survey questionnaire was employed to collect data, which was distributed to the selected participants. The data collected were then analyzed using frequency, percentage, mean, and weighted mean to interpret and assess the findings of the study. The study found that the majority of respondents were between the ages of 34 and 41 years old and were married. It was strongly agreed that women experiencing violence may develop anxiety and depression. Regarding social pressure, women often fear retaliation from their abusers and worry about their safety and vulnerability in intimate relationships. When it comes to behavioral control, many women perceive their actions as being influenced by the fear of their abuser’s response or retaliation. The study also identified several barriers that women face, such as a lack of legal support. As for remedies, the respondents suggested providing counseling and mental health services, as well as education and awareness campaigns to challenge the attitudes and beliefs that contribute to violence. Furthermore, ensuring that women are placed in a safe environment, away from the perpetrators, was seen as essential." The findings of this study reveal the beliefs of women experiencing violence in Barangay Payatas B, Quezon City. The results underscore the importance of collaboration among Barangay Personnel, VAWC PNP, and community members in addressing and reducing the incidence of violence against women."
