Abstract

One of the struggles in teaching Disaster Readiness and Risk Reduction subjects is that some students get bored while their teachers are discussing. Some teachers use video presentations to get their students’ attention. The researchers want to know how effective this kind of teaching technique is to the selected Grade 12 General Academic Strand students of Bestlink College of the Philippines. Thus, the researchers decided to conduct this study. The researchers used the quantitative-descriptive method as a research design wherein the researchers aimed to measure the quantity or amount and compare it with record and try to project for the future period. The researchers utilized purposive sampling in choosing 50 selected Grade 12 General Academic Strand students. For indicator number 1, male and female respondents with the weighted means of 4.11 and 3.91, respectively, both strongly agreed that motivation is effective in a video presentation. For indicator number 2, male and female respondents had a weighted mean of 4.03 for male respondents and 4.07 for female respondents, both of which strongly agreed that activities are effective in a video presentation. For indicator number 3, male and 4.06 for female respondents had a weighted mean of 4.06, both of which strongly agreed that examination is effective in a video presentation. The overall weighted mean was 4.07 for male respondents and 4.01 for female respondents, both of which strongly agreed that motivation, activities, and examination are effective in a video presentation. The findings of the study and the conclusions drawn were forwarded. Video presentation should be included as teacher’s teaching technique in teaching Disaster Readiness and Risk Reduction subject that needs an illustration. The researchers recommended using video presentations because it is easy to understand the lesson if they use the video presentation. The researchers recommend to the teachers to use video presentation because it is effective to get the attention of the students.
