Abstract

The study investigates the transition from traditional cash transactions to digital payment platforms in Barangay Capri, Novaliches, Quezon City. It explores the key factors driving the adoption of cashless methods such as convenience, accessibility, and perceived security as well as the barriers faced by both users and non-users. By analyzing local behavior and technological trends, the research aims to provide insights into how digital payments are reshaping financial practices in the community and identify potential areas for support and improvement. The study utilized a descriptive research design with purposive sampling to collect data from residents and store owners in Barangay Capri, Novaliches. Using structured survey questionnaires, the researchers aimed to understand the adoption and challenges of digital payment systems. The data was analyzed through statistical tools such as frequency, percentage, ranking scale, weighted mean, and F-tests to identify trends, evaluate user experiences, and determine significant differences among respondent groups. The approach ensured focused, reliable insights into the community’s transition to cashless transactions. The findings indicate that digital payment usage is increasing in Barangay Capri, driven primarily by convenience and promotional incentives. However, several barriers hinder broader adoption, including concerns over transaction fees, security and trust issues, user interface complexity, and limited digital literacy among some residents. These insights highlight the need for improved user education, more secure platforms, and supportive infrastructure to ensure inclusive and efficient digital payment practices. The study underscores the importance of promoting digital payment adoption in Barangay Capri by tackling key challenges such as security concerns, limited accessibility, and low digital literacy. It recommends developing targeted strategies to improve user education, build trust in digital platforms, and make payment technologies more accessible to all segments of the population. These efforts aim to support a smoother transition from cash-based transactions to more efficient, secure digital systems.
