Abstract

This study presents ways of fostering an inclusive environment in schools where LGBTQIA+ students would be more included. The study also highlights proactive efforts, community engagement, and policy enforcement in addressing bullying and discrimination. By implementing a descriptive research design, the purpose is focused on finding new solutions that could make students in the LGBTQIA+ community feel safe and included. The main motive behind this study was the issue of homophobia that was present in the school environment. We implemented an exploratory descriptive quantitative design to test the most effective means to develop an atmosphere that is inclusive and safe for LGBTQIA+ students. We used a survey questionnaire to determine the best strategies that can help create a safe school environment and promote inclusivity for LGBTQIA+ students. In addition, data were collected through purposive sampling. The study resulted in a list of strategies for promoting the school as a safe place and fostering welcoming behavior and attitudes. The conducted survey identified community engagement, policy enforcement, and inclusive facilities as the decisive elements that support the goal of creating a positive environment. The study also presented some of the following suggestions to solve this problem, such as setting goals, counseling, and increasing the accessibility of resources To solve these concerns, the research recommends methods targeting the safety of school-going students, community engagement, and policy enforcement. The first set of findings showed that the participants strongly endorsed the coexistence of different perspectives, providing resources, and inclusive bathroom facilities. It is important to enhance the level of community engagement, inclusive policies, and mental health support to establish a safe and more inclusive environment for LGBTQIA+ students.
