Abstract

This chapter presents the background of the study, including the review of related literature, the theoretical and conceptual frameworks, and the statement of the problem. It also discusses the study’s assumptions, scope, significance, and definitions of key terms. According to Jhon Carlo (2024), the NCII certification is granted to individuals who have demonstrated the essential skills and knowledge required in industries such as hospitality. Valid for five years, this certification is increasingly sought by employers, especially for positions abroad. It serves as proof of a candidate’s competence and enhances their employability and career advancement opportunities. This chapter outlines the procedures and techniques employed to collect and obtain the data necessary for the study. It details the analysis and rationale for how each procedure contributes to acquiring relevant information. The discussion covers the research design, target population, sampling technique, instruments used, and the construction of survey questions. It also explains the process of instrument validation, the retrieval of completed questionnaires, and the statistical methods applied for data analysis. This chapter presents the findings derived from the questionnaires administered to BSHM students at Bestlink College of the Philippines. Results indicate that most respondents fall within the age range of 21–25 years, with equal representation across all year levels and genders. The majority are single. Regarding the impact of NCII certification, respondents strongly agree that it provides greater employment opportunities, qualifies individuals for higher-paying positions, and is highly regarded by employers, particularly for overseas employment. Nonetheless, concerns were noted about rising competition in the job market, potential job displacement due to automation, and the mismatch between NCII training and the evolving demands of various industries. The study reveals that NCII certification provides substantial benefits to BSHM students by enhancing their career prospects, boosting self-confidence, and equipping them for specialized roles in the hospitality industry. Most respondents were between 21–25 years old, with balanced representation across year levels and genders. While the certification is recognized for opening pathways to higher-paying jobs, international opportunities, and long-term career advancement, respondents also identified persistent challenges, including a mismatch between the curriculum and current industry requirements, geographic constraints, and limited access to advanced training programs.
