The Point-of-Sale (POS) System with Barcode Reader combines hardware and software to streamline business operations such as sales processing, inventory management, report generation, and receipt printing. Since its establishment in 2021, Sabelle's Closet has operated without an automated system, leading to various issues, including lengthy customer lines, challenges in producing accurate reports, poorly organized products that hinder quality control, and difficulties in calculating customers’ purchase totals. The development of the system followed the SDLC Waterfall Method, encompassing the phases of planning, analysis, design, development, testing, and maintenance. The researchers identified the problems experienced by Sabelle’s Closet through interviews. After collecting and analyzing the relevant data, they conducted brainstorming sessions to design the required system. The system was built using the Java programming language and SQLite as the database. To assess its functionality and performance, the Point-of-Sale system with a barcode reader was implemented. The system aims to streamline the checkout process at Sabelle’s Closet through an intuitive interface paired with a barcode reader. Products are assigned unique barcodes that correspond to their detailed information. Integrating barcode scanning with the Point-of-Sale system facilitates real-time inventory management, allowing efficient monitoring of stock levels. This technology helps reduce customer wait times and decreases the likelihood of transactional errors. The Point-of-Sale System with a barcode reader for Sabelle’s Closet is designed to facilitate smoother transactions and reduce the burden on staff and administrators managing the business. By automating sales and inventory processes, the system enhances efficiency and improves inventory management. Previously, staff had to manually list purchased items as makeshift receipts, which contributed to long queues and made it difficult to evaluate product quality. The system’s automated data handling and reporting features free up staff time, enabling them to concentrate on delivering superior customer service.
