IMPACT OF ED-VLOGS ON THE VOCABULARY DEVELOPMENT OF FRESHMEN STUDENTS AT BESTLINK COLLEGE OF THE PHILIPPINES

This research examines the impact of ED-VLOGS on the vocabulary development of freshman students, with a particular emphasis on understanding idiomatic expressions. It analyzes variables such as frequency of exposure, contextual learning, active engagement, and comprehension. The study demonstrates that ED-VLOGS serve as an effective tool for enhancing language acquisition, deepening idiomatic understanding, and promoting vocabulary retention. By focusing on first-year students in an academic setting, the research underscores the role of ED-VLOGS in improving communication skills, advancing language proficiency, and contributing to overall academic achievement. This study utilizes a quasi-experimental design to examine the relationship between variables and assess their impact on the outcomes. This approach allows for the analysis of cause-and-effect relationships, providing insights into how specific factors influence the results of the study. The results of the study revealed a significant positive impact of ED-VLOGS on the vocabulary development of freshman students at Bestlink College of the Philippines. Students exposed to ED-VLOGS showed a marked improvement in their post-test scores, with the mean increasing from 9.48 to 17.37. The intervention proved particularly effective in enhancing idiomatic vocabulary, as 45.98% of participants achieved high levels of development. Additionally, 43.10% demonstrated strong comprehension of idiomatic expressions, highlighting the effectiveness of contextual learning through ED-VLOGS. Notably, daily exposure to the content correlated with the highest gains, with 57.47% of students regularly engaging with the material. Overall, the findings underscore the value of ED-VLOGS in fostering active engagement, improving language proficiency, and supporting consistent vocabulary growth among learners. This study provides meaningful insights and actionable recommendations for enhancing the vocabulary development of freshman students through the use of ED-VLOGS. The findings highlight the effectiveness of ED-VLOGS in promoting active engagement, contextual learning, and improved comprehension of idiomatic expressions. Integrating ED-VLOGS into the language learning curriculum at Bestlink College of the Philippines can significantly support students' linguistic growth and academic success.
