FACTORS AFFECTING TRAFFIC CONGESTION IN BARANGAY BAGBAG NOVALICHES QUEZON CITY

Traffic congestion is a persistent urban issue that negatively affects economic productivity, public health, and the overall quality of life. In the Philippines, Metro Manila is known for its severe traffic problems, with Quezon City being one of the most heavily impacted areas. Barangay Bagbag in Novaliches, a mixed-use residential and commercial area, serves as a key junction that connects various neighboring communities. Its strategic location makes it especially prone to traffic congestion. This study aims to identify the contributing factors to traffic congestion in Barangay Bagbag and to provide insights that may inform potential solutions to mitigate the problem. This study employs a qualitative and descriptive research design to analyze the factors affecting traffic congestion in Barangay Bagbag, Novaliches, Quezon City. Data will be collected through surveys administered to selected residents, law enforcement officers, and community leaders. The study outlines the research design, target respondents, sampling techniques, research instruments, validation procedures, and the statistical tools used to analyze the data. The results present the respondents’ demographic profiles and analyze responses to the survey questions using appropriate statistical tools. The analysis identified recurring themes and key factors contributing to traffic congestion, including road obstructions, poor traffic management, limited road space, and the lack of proper parking facilities. The survey findings reflect the community’s experiences and perceptions regarding the severity and causes of traffic buildup in the area. The findings of the study highlight the need for targeted interventions to address the identified causes of traffic congestion in Barangay Bagbag. It is recommended that local authorities strengthen traffic management strategies, enforce parking regulations, and improve infrastructure planning. Future research may expand the scope to include other barangays in Quezon City to develop broader policy recommendations for urban traffic management.
