Abstract

This study investigates the engagement of onsite activities and e-learning in relation to the academic excellence of selected Grade 12 Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS) students at Bestlink College of the Philippines. Traditional learning has been the foundation of education for centuries, offering structured and face-to-face interactions. However, the integration of e-learning has introduced new opportunities for flexible, self-directed, and technology-enhanced instruction. This study aims to assess how both onsite activities and e-learning contribute to academic performance and offers insights beneficial to students, educators, administrators, and future researchers. A correlational research design is utilized to determine the relationship between engagement in onsite and e-learning activities and the academic excellence of students. Purposive sampling is used to select the respondents, who were asked to complete a researcher-developed survey questionnaire. The questionnaire was reviewed and refined with input from the research adviser to ensure content validity. The final instrument focused on students’ perceptions of their engagement with both learning modalities and its perceived impact on their academic performance. The findings reveal overwhelmingly positive feedback on e-learning from the respondents. Students reported that e-learning enhanced their academic performance by providing access to advanced study resources, interactive learning tools, and digital content. Additionally, students highlighted the benefits of flexible scheduling, improved time management, and the ability to engage in independent study. These features contributed to greater satisfaction and academic success. The results demonstrate that e-learning significantly improves academic performance among Grade 12 HUMSS students by enhancing learning flexibility, time management, and access to educational resources. While onsite learning fosters engagement through structured interaction, e-learning supplements traditional methods by offering additional support and independence in the learning process. The combination of these two approaches leads to improved educational outcomes and high levels of student satisfaction. The study recommends further integration of digital learning tools alongside traditional instruction to support academic excellence.
