DEVELOPMENT OF ALEXA BASED SMART MIRROR MONITORING INTERFACE SYSTEM USING RASPBERRY PI WITH CLOUD LINKAGE TECHNOLOGY

The Alexa-based smart mirror is a hybrid of traditional mirrors and digital display technology, designed to provide real-time information such as time, weather forecasts, news updates, calendar events, music playback, alarms, and reminders. Additional features include a global clock, word of the day, breathing exercises, hydration reminders, a selfie application, and an interactive weather map. The device offers multiple navigation options, including touch interface, remote control, and Alexa voice commands. Engineered for convenience and durability, the waterproof design ensures safe operation in humid environments, particularly in bathrooms. The researchers employed the Experimental Prototyping Method to design and develop the smart mirror system. This method involves iterative development and refinement of a functional prototype. Data were collected using purposive sampling through interviews and structured survey questionnaires utilizing a five-point Likert scale. The Raspberry Pi served as the system’s processing unit, enabling cloud integration and seamless user interaction. The developed smart mirror system successfully integrated voice-controlled interaction, cloud synchronization, and real-time information display through the Raspberry Pi platform. Essential features such as weather updates, calendar reminders, and smart home control were fully functional. The system demonstrated accurate voice command recognition and rapid data syncing with minimal latency. User evaluations reflected high levels of satisfaction in terms of functionality, usability, and practicality, confirming the system’s efficiency and user-friendliness. The study demonstrates the potential of integrating smart technology into conventional household items. The smart mirror combines a reflective surface with a digital interface to deliver a multifunctional personal assistant experience. Voice control via Alexa, combined with touch and remote navigation, offers accessibility to a broad range of users. Features such as daily reminders, wellness prompts, and interactive tools contribute to improved lifestyle and user engagement. Its waterproof design supports use in high-moisture areas, extending its application to bathrooms and similar environments. Overall, the system reflects a significant advancement in smart home technology, providing convenience, interactivity, and functional design in a single device.
