Abstract

This study explores the role of food preparation workshops as effective tools for cultural preservation, specifically in promoting local delicacies. With the increasing influence of globalization and modernization on traditional food practices, communities are at risk of losing their culinary heritage. This study aims to address this concern by examining how food workshops can help preserve and pass down culturally significant culinary knowledge. This study implements a cultural initiative designed to revitalize and safeguard traditional food practices by engaging participants in hands-on workshops. These sessions teach the preparation of local delicacies while incorporating intergenerational knowledge sharing, storytelling, and active participation. The workshops function not only as educational platforms but also as avenues to strengthen cultural identity and foster community cohesion. The findings revealed that food preparation workshops fostered greater appreciation for local cuisine, encouraged sustainable food practices, supported local economies, and contributed to preserving intangible cultural heritage. Participants demonstrated increased interest and involvement in traditional cooking methods and recognized the cultural value of local dishes. The study concluded that food preparation workshops are effective in promoting cultural preservation. By integrating experiential learning, storytelling, and cultural education, these programs enhanced participants’ understanding, appreciation, and active engagement with traditional culinary practices. Such initiatives contribute meaningfully to the continuity of food-related cultural traditions in modern communities.
