Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the factors that affect the decision-making of grade
12 general academic strand students in choosing a college career track. This study utilized a
descriptive research method; the researchers selected fifty (50) respondents from the general
academic strand to answer the prepared survey questionnaires. Based on the results of this
study it reveals that, among the factors, financial is the most considered factor that affects the
decision-making of the senior high school students. Meanwhile, passion is the least
considered factor by the students.

Based on the gathered data coming from the different groups of respondents, male
respondents said that "passion" is affective when choosing a course in college, with an overall
weighted mean of 3.19, while female respondents said that it is highly affective, with a
weighted mean of 3.28. We can conclude that the following variables (financial, academic
achievements, and passion) are factors that affect their decision to choose a college career
track.

This study recommended that students consider their financial goals and have them done with
work and study to meet and provide for their basic daily needs and academic expenses, which
helped them reach their milestones by themselves instead of being dependent on their
parents or guardians. In that way, the finances were not much of a hindrance when they chose
a track in college.
