Abstract

An investigation is one of the instruments of a police department; it is used to enlighten the
facts in a case. Police investigations are hard, which is why police enforcers use different tools
to help them solve crimes. Facebook and other Social Media platforms are some of the things
that can be used in police investigations. Over 4.26 billion people use social media around the
world (DIXON 2022), where they put anything that happens in their lives. So, it's normal that
police enforcers use it in their investigations, but because anyone can put almost anything on
social media, it's hard to distinguish between real and fake information that social media has.
One of the uses of Facebook platforms in police investigations is when, in some cases, the
crime committed was recorded by someone’s gadgets or even CCTV cameras and uploaded
to Facebook. In this case, Facebook was used in police investigations by providing some
evidence of a crime that happened.
