Abstract

Nowadays, many students are working on ways to continue their education. As a result of the COVID-19 outbreak, the government decided to close schools, which is why the mode of education changed to a remote learning setup. Working while studying offers you the confidence you need because you oversee your finances as a student, but we do not know the real situation of working students. The goal of this study is to find out the Effects of Remote Learning Setup on the Academic Performance of Working Students at Bestlink College of the Philippines; considering the increase in Covid-19 cases, this research seeks to find out the possible impact of the Covid-19 outbreak on people, particularly the working students on how they deal with their academic performance issues by managing their duties and responsibility as employees; their time management; family expectations; lack of motivation, and the possible solutions to the problem.

The researchers used a descriptive method of collection, which evaluates and determines the Effects of Remote Learning Setup on the Academic Performance of Working Students at Bestlink College of the Philippines. This design enables the researchers to explain who, why, what, and how the study is. This is also a qualitative research design because it determines the effects of Remote Learning Setup on the Academic Performance of Working Students. This study will involve fifty (50) TLE major students from first year to fourth year level at Bestlink College of the Philippines. The researchers used a sample random research technique to get the needed data for the specific questions stated in the problem statement. The main instrument used by the researchers in this study was the questionnaire. The researchers designed the questionnaire for the study; it was divided into two parts: Part 1, the profile of the respondents, and Part 2, the questionnaire proper.

The BTLED working students who participated in our survey had an assessment regarding the effects of remote learning setup on their academic performance. The respondents experienced commitment to work and study; balancing work life and being a student is hard. As a result, they also couldn’t finish the activities on time, as they experienced physical problems, family expectations, and financial problems. Still, the good thing here is they had great motivation and attention from their teachers or professors, so they could keep fighting for their dreams. As a result, they are motivated to learn and perform better while working during remote learning; even though they experienced a lot of challenges, they still participated in learning activities and had a certificate of recognition.

The results demonstrate the struggles not only for BTLED working students but also for all working students in the Bestlink College of the Philippines; we believe that the government needs to help lessen the population of working students in our country, and also the teachers or professors need to understand, motivate and encourage every student to keep on fighting for their dreams despite of the challenges they faced.
