Abstract

Technology and livelihood education are significant topics in our educational system. Neither academic discipline encompasses as many relevant life skills as possible in its curriculum, which will improve student learning regardless of their career journey. The knowledge acquired through home economics would be useful throughout one's life. The most essential element of home economics is that students learn about topics relevant to their current lives, which will benefit them as they develop. It's indeed noticeable that TLE is a subject that acts as a foundation for developing skills among students, and therefore, appropriate consideration must be given to its improvement to engage students and maintain an enthusiastic passion for the subject. The laboratories where useful classes are held must be fully equipped and funded properly. The laboratory is the central focus for science-based courses and home economics education.

This research study was conducted to identify how effective the TLE Laboratory was in teaching and learning for chosen BTLED students at Bestlink College of the Philippines. The researchers utilized a descriptive research method to determine the impact of the TLE Laboratory on BTLED students. Through purposive sampling, 40 students from Bestlink College of the Philippines' BTLED were chosen to participate in this research study. The researchers employed a questionnaire to collect data for this study. Researchers used frequency and percentages, weighted means, rankings, and scales to analyze their collected data.

The 1st and 2nd-year students of the Bachelor of Technology and Livelihood Education who participated in the survey regarding the impact of the TLE laboratory on effective teaching and learning said that they see the laboratory as one of the places that can help enhance and learn new skills. However, they are also having trouble with a lack of instructional materials, such as manuals, which can serve as guides for them. Another is that some students are having difficulty coping with the subject matter because of different learning styles, and when it comes to doing their practical exams, some lack funds, which may result in them not doing their practical exercises.

The results demonstrate the struggles experienced not only by BTLED students but also by other students. The teachers need to provide other instructional materials and help students cope with the subject matter to lessen their problems in the laboratory. Some colleges and universities need to implement rules and regulations regarding the TLE laboratory.
