Effectiveness of Online Learning Modality in Bachelor of Technology and Livelihood Education Students During Pandemic at Bestlink College of the Philippines

Abstract

The coronavirus disease was initially reported on December 31, 2019, as the World Health Organization stated. It was January 30, 2020, when they declared the COVID-19 outbreak, which led to the temporary closure of malls, restaurants, amusement parks, schools, and universities. Education is one of the most affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Hundreds of schools have been shuttered temporarily. As a result, the education sector offers an alternative way to continue the learning of billions of students: online learning. Online learning allows students to participate and perform their tasks without being physically present in the classroom.

This research is considered a meta-analysis and the evaluation of output to the effectiveness of online learning modality. The process presented will be used in collecting the data necessary to answer the main and specific problems stated in Chapter I. It includes a research design that used a descriptive method binding study with adequate interpretation of the findings. The respondents of the study were students of BTLED enrolled in the school year 2021-2022; the sampling techniques represent probability sampling technique chosen randomly, and the questionnaire was the instrument used in the study to collect data and in the validation of the research question and the statistical treatment of data. Henceforth, the research study aims to develop the good qualities of learning and the effectiveness of online learning modality during the pandemic among BTLED students at Bestlink College of the Philippines. The Bachelor of Technology and Livelihood Education students who participated in the survey were given the data as the basis of the respondents’ experiences in their online learning modality. The problems encountered in the online learning modality show a lack of immediate communication due to poor online connection. The effects of academic performance on the learning outcome and course structure affect participation, attendance, and examination. The learning devices and internet connection pose students problems and challenges during the online learning modality. 

The results establish the validity of the statements on the items drawn from the conclusion to the problems and challenges encountered. The effects of independent variables affect its dependent variables, which poses difficulties to the effectiveness of the Online Learning Modality in Bachelor of Technology and Livelihood Education during the pandemic at Bestlink College of the Philippines.
