Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of academic procrastination on fourth-year College students in Bachelor of Technology and Livelihood Education at Bestlink College of the Philippines in the year 2022-2023. Features, teaching factors, and technological aspects of procrastination in the classroom are also examined in this study. Academic procrastination has been linked to negative outcomes, including poor academic achievement, emotional well-being, and mental and physical health. As a result, academic procrastination is harmful to individuals who do it. The purpose of this study is to determine which characteristics of the educational environment have an impact on academic procrastination.

 

This study is a purposive research design to determine how procrastination affects the academics of 4th-year college students taking Bachelor of Technology and Livelihood Education. A set of questions guided the investigation. The study population consists of all 4th year college students taking Bachelor of Technology and Livelihood Education at Bestlink College of the Philippines. Through the process of simple random sampling, a total of 50 students as respondents were selected to participate in the study. A survey questionnaire was utilized as the primary data collection tool, along with a follow-up interview. The information gathered was examined using ranking, percentages, and weighted mean.

Female students in their 20s to 25s who are single and majoring in Technology and Livelihood Education make up the majority of fourth-year B.S.E. students. These are the students who took part in the survey.

Provided, following the evaluations of the variables affecting their academic, quality of academic work, knowledge learned or insufficient learning, and lastly, grades. They obtained this outcome because of too much use of gadgets, family problems, tiredness, increased negative emotion, and lack of clear direction or focus. The solution to address these effects on a student’s academic performance and prevent procrastination is practicing time management techniques such as organizing deadlines, prioritizing important tasks, eliminating distractions, setting and focusing on their goals, giving rewards, and being self-motivated.

The outcome highlights the challenges faced by fourth-year college students majoring in technology and livelihood education and those taking another course in another department. Teamwork between the teacher, parents, and students is required for school activities. Please encourage students to complete their work on time and teach them time management skills.
