Study Habits of Tourism Working Students in Bestlink College of the Philippines: Determinant of Academic Performance
Vol. 3, No. 2
Abstract
The present study was created to identify how study habits affect the academic performance of working students and aims to identify how they maximize their time while working and studying.
This study will give students awareness about how to deal with these habits. Working students’ work schedules usually do not fit their school schedules; hence, they have difficulty regarding their schedules. In addition to time, other factors, such as personal and social issues, learning, financial, health issues, and time management, also affect the students’ performance.
Thus, this research is quantitative: the variables were measured and presented using statistical techniques or numeral analysis of data collected through survey questionnaires. This study utilized 50 selected working students as respondents to determine the study habits that affect the academic performance of BSTM working students. The researchers used statistical tools to evaluate the data gathered, including frequency and percentage distribution, weighted mean, and the Likert scale, to force the respondents not to choose a middle point in answering the survey questionnaire. The descriptive research design is compatible with the study because the researchers do not control the research variables. Instead, they just observed and measured them. The sampling technique used in this study is simple random sampling.
