Challenges Encountered by the 4th-Year Tourism Working Students at Bestlink College of the Philippines: An Intervention Program
Vol. 3, No. 2
Abstract
This study evaluates students' challenges while working and how beneficial it is to them. Some students work for their needs and financial support for their school expenses. The researchers will survey how they deal with difficulties. The purpose of this study is to investigate the experiences of working students. A qualitative study is used, and it results in a subjective report about data gathered using a phenomenological approach. Based on the participants' responses about their perception of working while studying, it is confirmed that financial support, self-development, and internal motivation to integrate theory and practice are among the driving forces of working while studying. The findings also show that the participants struggle with time management. Despite their difficulties, the informants recognized working while in school as a step toward improving their performance and meeting their needs. Also, it improves their professional and personal development to secure better jobs. This study is significant given the many college students employed in the relevant course. They could have trouble finding the time to balance their obligations as both students and employees. Moreover, it shows that the most effective ways of overcoming their problems are through good time management and self-reflection with the help of the Psychological Talk with the Working Student program.
