Abstract

Despite various government measures to keep learning during pandemic, students are facing many difficulties. One particular area of concern for college students is academic stress   relating to    their ability to succeed in this new normal.

Academic stress during a pandemic interrupts’ students, which significantly contributes to their high stress levels, altering their performance and entire demeanor. Thus, the goal of this study is to identify the factors that influence academic stress; if all these aspects are not managed appropriately, it can lead to an increasingly stressful atmosphere that causes uncertainty, worry, discomfort, and so on. We must recognize that the epidemic impacts the population psychologically as well as physically. The greater knowledge and understanding of various causes of stress and how they affect students, the better, so that students may endeavor to make academic stress bearable.

Purposive sampling was used in this study to select respondents from the same year level and major, for a total of 30 respondents from Bestlink College of the Philippines' 3rd Year Science Major students. Total population sampling is a type of purposive sampling where the whole population of interest (i.e., a group whose members all share a given characteristic) is studied. This allows us to describe the major impact that findings have on the population.

The findings of this study revealed that financial, academic, family, personal, and COVID-19 factors all influence academic stress. COVID-19 was found to be the most frequently encountered factor, with a weighted mean of 3.50 and an interpretation of "often."

Online learning is implemented during the pandemic as a new process of learning for the students, and even in the middle of the pandemic, the learners are continuing their study. In some instances, there is a factor that affects their learning because of their academic stress. The primary goal of this research is to determine what factors the students encountered and to provide a solution to help them overcome their difficulties.
