Abstract
This study aimed to investigate The Impact of Values Formation on the Character Development of Selected Adolescents at Bestlink College of the Philippines. Values formation is the result of the interaction between our personal experiences and the culture in which we live. Values are instilled in us as children by our families and reinforced by culture and life events.
A research method was conducted with a use of qualitative descriptive method. The researchers conduct a survey through utilization of questionnaires to 30 selected adolescents at Bestlink College of the Philippines. The respondents can answer the questionnaires regarding to the impact of values formation on their character development. The adolescents who participated in our survey had an assessment regarding to the factors that influences their character development. One of the most important that influences the character development of the adolescents in school and they can acquire majority of positive values. However, there are several problems encountered by the adolescents such as physical abuse, poor parenting, heavy pressure from the parents, and poor communication which affects the character development of adolescents. Majority of the respondents can show the level of their character development through actions followed by words and thoughts.
The results demonstrated on how the impact of values formation on the character development of adolescents were influence by the following such as home, school and church. Parents, Administrators and Servants of the church must have to set and establish proper values to ensure the continuous development of the adolescents’ character.
