Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has threatened the education system, shaking its foundation. As a result, governments all over the world have launched a rapid response to limit the effects of the pandemic on education. This research is conducted to find out the effects of remote learning modality in academic achievements of selected BSED Mathematics Major Students at Bestlink College of the Philippines in terms of mastery and congruency. 

This study used descriptive qualitative method of research. A random sample of 2nd year to 4th year BSED mathematics major students was used for the study. A survey questionnaire served as the main tool for data collection. Percentages and a weighted mean were used to analyze the collected data.

Based on the data gathered, there is a positive effect of remote learning modality in the academic achievements of selected BSED Mathematics major in Bestlink College of the Philippines in terms of the mastery and congruency. The researchers see that unstable network connection, distractions, and difficulty in communication through the internet are the three major problems and that the students encountered in using the remote learning modality. 

Based on these findings, suggestions were made that, school administrator should develop an effective learning management system that will help and support the needs of the students. Teachers should make a strategies and techniques that will help their students to motivate in this kind of learning modality.
