Abstract

In today’s generation, the importance of education to individual students is very important. A student's academic performance is important in determining the next step of their education, which influences their future career. College students must increase their knowledge and abilities to accomplish professional growth in a relatively relaxed learning environment. College students, in comparison to earlier educational environments and techniques, require greater self-awareness and self- discipline awareness to learn. At this stage, academic pressure on students reached an excessive level which can lead to stress. The level of stress leads to poor academic performance. Accordingly, the student’s difficulties of students in secondary and tertiary education have received a lot of attention. The percentage of college students suffering from major difficulties has risen significantly in recent years. The descriptive correlational-quantitative research design will be used using a survey instrument. The respondents of the study will be (4th year BSEd Major in English) for a total of (30). Simple random sampling will be a method of choosing samples in which all the members of the population are given a chance to be selected as respondents. The data that will be gather, will be treated in Frequency Distribution and Percentage used in SOP number one (1), To determine the extent of perception, weighted mean will be used in SOP number two and three (2 and 3). In challenges encountered by the respondent in their Academic Performances, Frequency, Percentage and Ranking will be used. T-test is used to determine if there is a significant relationship between two variables.

Most respondents were aged 20-24 years old obtained 90 percent, and as to gender, female got the highest percentage of 56.7. As to most respondents came from section 4101-E with a gathered percentage of 40. In the level of student’s difficulties in terms of decision making with an overall weighted mean (2.50 as Agree). In terms of critical thinking the weighted mean is (2.93 as Agree) In terms of attitude, it got a weighted

mean of (2.92 as Agree). In terms of the level of academic performance of students in terms of recitation and participation, the weighted mean is (3.10 as Agree), in quiz and activities (2.74 as Agree). Lastly the final exam with a (3.15 weighted mean as agree). In the Challenges encountered. The leading challenge encountered by the respondents as the level of difficulties was time management with a weighted mean of 3.41 as Agree that affects their academic performance. The data disclose the require result for the respondents that the school can put initiatives in place that will benefit the students and help the ones who are struggling in their academic. As well as giving a constructive approach to assist the students.
