Vol.3, No.2
Abstract
Several students are engaged in their phone games. There is a research gap in this area, and the researchers have gained interest in utilizing this gaming platform as the focus of the current study.
The researchers utilized the descriptive method to focus on the effects of the Roblox mobile game on the academic performance of selected elementary students at Rosa L. Susano Elementary School from 2022 to 2023. Using the purposive sampling method, researchers chose fifty (50) respondents who play Roblox. Researchers administered a 42-item questionnaire and retrieved quantitative data using a Google Form.
The researchers found out that the Roblox mobile game influenced the academic performance of the selected elementary students as they could color and create drawings using their imagination. The respondents were able to listen attentively in class. Meanwhile, they were able to communicate while playing Roblox. The findings also show respondents don't prioritize Roblox over their school attendance. The students learned to speak English by playing Roblox. On the other hand, students who spent a lot of time playing Roblox had blurred vision, which was revealed as a disadvantage of playing Roblox. The students were encouraged to be creative by sharing ideas about their hobbies, music, and art to moderate their playing of Roblox and enhance their academic performance.
The researchers advised Roblox mobile game creators and school administrators to design games and provide seminars that allow children to express their artistic skills and musical talents. Teachers and parents can also promote daily monitoring and feedback to track learners' progress in their academic performance. Students should value their academic performance and appreciate their parents', teachers', and classmates' support and effort. Additionally, consider that future researchers may conduct studies in this field while considering additional elements.
