Abstract

The TikTok application was launched in 2016 by Bytedance. During the pandemic, the TikTok application became the most downloaded application worldwide, and people used it as a source of information because of the variety of useful channels that can help anyone, particularly students. TikTok users have also utilized it to influence youth through instructional clips that can be viewed anytime. Hence, this study was intended to determine the impacts of the TikTok application on the learners' academic performance.

The researchers used quantitative method and descriptive research design. The cluster Sampling Technique was employed to get thirty (30) respondents to the study. To appropriately understand the data, we used the statistical treatment of frequency and percentage, ranking, weighted mean, and average weighted mean.

The results show that social-emotional, physical, and mental health, learning, behavior, and creativity have moderate impacts, while class participation and learning style have high impact. The results may be related to the following benefits: TikTok teaches students to value and love themselves, results in mood changes, and helps them become physically active. The app motivates them to attend class and influences the learners' learning style as it enhances their visual skills. TikTok expands the learner's creativity by allowing them to produce content that can be applied in class. To improve learners' academic performance while engaging in TikTok, we recommend the development of a guideline to develop communication and promote collaboration with the use of TikTok.
