Abstract

One of the first triumphs toward social development man achieved happened when he acquired the ability to harness fire. From the earliest inhabitants of the earth up to the present times, fire, and the power it wields, has served as a key tool for advancements and developments in man’s different aspects of life.

The many uses of fire paved way for human survival and advancements. However, when not carefully managed, it also is extremely hazardous. In the right circumstances, flames and smoke can spread rapidly and result in extensive harm and damage to people, property, and the environment. Fires can start accidentally or intentionally, but once a light the heat and poor visibility can make it difficult for people to escape or fight the flames.

Fire poses a huge safety risk for any household, business, workplace or organization. Fire-related hazards also cause severe injuries and even the loss of thousands of lives, including valuable assets. However, this safety risk is one t is sometimes overlooked or underestimated. Many of us believe we may never be in the midst of a fire accident is something many of us do not consider and prepare for. But a fire can happen anywhere at any time.

The research design which will be used in this study is descriptive sampling. This design is considered to be the most frequently used method in educational research as it describes what the researcher sees and beyond the horizon. As pointed out by Calderon and Gonzales (1993), descriptive research is a purposive process of gathering, analysing, classifying, and tabulating data about prevailing conditions, practices processes, trends and cause and effect relationships, and then making adequate and accurate interpretations about such data with or without the aid of statistical methods. Likewise, Mouly (1984) said that a survey refers to gathering data from a relatively large number of cases at a particular time through the use of a questionnaire.
