The Challenges of BPED Working Students in Coping to the New Normal Learning at Beslink College of the Philippines

Abstract

A descriptive method design was used by the researchers to complete the study. The proponent selected forty (40) students from 1st year to 4th-year level, Ages 18-28 years old, in Bachelor of Physical Education at Bestlink College of the Philippines who have experienced challenges while working and responded to the survey questionnaire related to our study.

The results identified that the BPED working students who can attend lectures obtained the highest mean of 3.725 with an equivalent interpretation of always response.  While getting a good score on the test, I got the lowest mean of 3.05 with some responses.  Lastly, the problems encountered by BPED working students in terms of financial problems are that they are working to support their personal needs, with the highest mean of 3.725, while working to support their family got the lowest mean of 3.45. Based on the results of the study, the challenges that can affect the performance of the BPED working students based on attendance are being able to attend class regularly with the highest mean of 3.75, while being able to attend school programs got the lowest mean of 3.25. Lastly, based on the school activities, being able to come to film shows got first place on the ranking with the highest mean of 3.25, while being able to join clubs and other organizations had the lowest mean of 2.825.

The analysis shows that the BPED working students are affected in coping with the new normal learning to help in continuing to study, learn to manage their time, and learn to make decisions wisely got the highest mean of 3.825 with an equivalent interpretation of always response. While it develops their communication skills, it got the lowest mean of 3.75.  It shows that the students are gaining experience from working while studying. Moreover, the study shows that the effective ways to overcome the challenges and problems they encounter are through good time management and self-reflection so that they can handle themselves and cope with the new normal learning.
