Abstract

The researchers want to help improve the academic performance of Grade 11 Accountancy, Business, and Management (ABM) Strand students in Bestlink College of the Philippines by conducting tutorials with the help and guidance of teachers. The researchers purposively choose all students of ABM sections 11-05 and 11-09 as the respondents. The researchers used a quasi-experimental research design to assess the significant difference in the academic performance of ABM 1105 with accounting tutorials to ABM section 11-09 without tutorials. The researchers used the survey method. The study was conducted at Bestlink College of the Philippines. The study concluded that conducting accounting tutorials was very effective in improving the academic performance of Grade 11 ABM students in terms of the following. (1) Performance tasks –After conducting tutorials, students started actively participating in class. They were also able to finish the tasks easily, they can cope up with the discussions easily too. Lastly, after the tutorials, they are now reciting in class effectively. (2) Written works –After tutorials, the students can analyze the transactions easily, which is an important variable if they want to improve their academic performance in accounting subjects. They also have better scores in quizzes, and they can answer the quizzes easily without errors of any kind. (3) Quarterly assessment –It helped the students improve their performance tasks and written works, as well as their quarterly assessment. The researchers recommended that students should have more practice in accounting subjects. They should also have a tutor for accounting subjects if they cannot cope with the discussions in class. Teachers should conduct tutorials in accounting subjects for the students. Using this strategy, the students can understand the accounting subject more and they will improve their academic performance. For school administrators, they can implement accounting tutorials as a program for the students. Lastly, future researchers should seek more to get closer to the main result of this study.
