When we talk about parenting, we usually think of our parents, but the question is: How will your parents help you improve your academic performance, and how will they support you and guide you in terms of your study? Parenting styles that vary are often more "authoritative than permissive." However, parenting styles combine a wide range of values firmly rooted in reverence and respect for seniors, as well as steadfast family ties. Now, we will find that parenting has an effect on the academic performance of students. We also found out that parenting has four (4) Different Styles: Authoritative, Authoritarian, Permissive, and Neglectful, and each one of them has an effect on students' academic performance. This study is mainly focused on The Effect of Parenting Styles on the Academic Performance of the Grade 12 Humanities and Social Sciences of Bestlink College of the Philippines Bulacan Inc. S.Y 2023-2024. This study was made because the researchers wanted to know the effect of parenting on the academic performance of students.
The study used a descriptive-quantitative research method, which employed twenty-five (25) Grade 12 Senior High School Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS) strand of Bestlink College of the Philippines, Bulacan Campus, enrolled for the Academic Year of 2023-2024.
From the results of the study, it was proved that the majority of students showed that their parents followed an authoritative parenting style that affected their academic performance. Authoritative parenting is defined by Rizwan et al. (2021). They mentioned that this kind of parenting is a strategy that, based on the foregoing information, it appears that parents' parenting style may impact students' self-regulation, self-efficacy, and academic accomplishment.
The main purpose of this study was to determine the Parenting Styles and their Involvement in the Academic Performance of Grade 12 Humanities and Social Sciences students of Bestlink College of the Philippines. This recommended that Parents and Teachers should encourage the students, especially the Humanities and Social Sciences students, to be more academically active and optimistic, and they should not experience pressure from their parents, who should be more supportive and interested in their children's studies, but rather they should be a guide for them so that their children have more confidence in school.
