Then, the prison system shall not, except as an incidental to justifiable segregation or the conservation of discipline, aggravate the distress innate in such a situation. The basis and justification of a sentence of imprisonment are to protect society against crime. A multiple methods design was used. Using a grounded method approach, the researchers conducted a focus group discussion with persons deprived of liberty (PDL) in the Correctional Institution for Women on January 7, 2021 in Mandaluyong City; they responded to a set of semistructured questions (human rights issues and impacts to PDLs in correctional institution). Inventory was also conducted, with data collected through qualitative data analysis of use in determining the issues inside the women’s penitentiary. Many PDLs who participated in our survey and interview perceived substantial problems with the assessment of the human rights issues and impacts, which stern predominantly from 1) a pecuniary aid, 2) communication, 3) inmates/PDL’s interview, and 4) Good Conduct Time Allowance (GCTA). In instances where correction personnel and PDL sounded highly involved. The highest assessment cited on the following questions was the fact that the respondents corresponded on the problem that they encountered inside every dormitory, especially in terms of lacking monetary budget, media misinterpretation, and inaccurate articles about PLDs. The highest assessment was on the measure that may utilize to assess each problem arising inside the women’s penitentiary, particularly on providing appropriate pecuniary aid and granting GCTA to those with a sentence of life imprisonment. The results demonstrated the need for additional funds for the pecuniary aid as needed by PDLs and medical assistance when the interview of PDLs was ongoing and educational teaching skills to further enhance the knowledge of young and illiterate PDLs. They also seek for the review of the legislative branch of the government of GCTA for PDLs whose sentence is life imprisonment.</p> ER -
