This dish consists of pechay stalks coated in flour mixture, eggs, and bread crumbs and then deep-fried until light brown. The stalks are trimmed from our previous recipe (stuffed pechay). Crispy fried pechay stalks are usually served as an appetizer together with mayo-ketchup dipping sauce. Nowadays, many people do not want to eat vegetables because of their taste. We wanted to change people’s perspectives on eating vegetables. Thus, we created this dish. Petchayis widely used in Asian dishes. It has smooth and dark green leaf blades forming a bunch of leaves similar to mustard or celery. Petchay is best cooked when stir-fried, steamed, boiled, or stuffed. Pechay is also usedin hotpots or shabu-shabu. It may taste slightly bitter, but the crunchiness of the vegetable is admirable.
