Many students face stress as they try to mix up busy lives, school, and work while they also try to find time with family and friends. However, dealing with different challenges demands performing well in academics. Students may feel stressed because of their inability to address such concerns. Students all respond to a stressor in different ways, and not all students will find the same situation to being stressed. However, several common situations tend to stress anyone out. In the educational field, the common sources of stress that may lead to fear and anxiety among students are high expectations of parents, teachers, or even friends; academic pressure; competition among classmates; physical setup, limited opportunities; and ambitions. The descriptive method was applied to select 30 Grade 12 students as respondents (17 males and 13 females) within the age range of 16–23 years old. Survey and unstructured interviews were conducted to determine the causes and effects of stress on the academic performance of the respondents. The results showed more male students are experiencing stress, with 56.67%, while female students had 43.33%. The main sources of stress are a diversity of wants, rivalry from siblings, sleeping difficulty, and other students’ expectations. “Always worsens their grades because of stress” and “strict schedules/deadlines” are the most common problems encountered in stress management and had the weighted means of 4.6 and 3.7, respectively. The respondents’ solutions to stress are keeping a positive attitude, eating healthy and balanced meals, and making time for hobbies and interests. The findings revealed that the academic stress experienced by Grade 12 students has a considerable impact on their mental and physical health, thereby leading to a range of academic problems. A limitation of the current study is not being able to delineate between studies that have assessed the impact of academic-related stress during different phases of secondary and tertiary education. The needs and the most beneficial coping strategies may vary throughout one’s lifespan.</p>}, number={1}, journal={Ascendens Asia Singapore – Bestlink College of the Philippines Journal of Multidisciplinary Research}, author={Compa, Nerisyl and Gemao, Nina Isabelle and Paja, Marilyn and Villaabrille, Ma Theresa and Yambot, Regina Beth and Ablen, Ph.D., Amelia}, year={2020}, month={Apr.} }
