Impact of Peer Influence on Behavior of Grade 12 ABM Students: An Emerging Guide

Abstract

This study covers the impact of peer influence on the behavior of Grade 12 Accounting, Business, and Management students of Bestlink College of the Philippines, S.Y. 2019–2020. This study used the descriptive method. The instruments used by the researchers in this study were questionnaires, unstructured interviews, and focused group discussions. This study utilized a descriptive method design in collecting information. The results of the study showed a moderate extent in the social aspect, with a composite weighted mean of 2.84. Meanwhile, the emotional aspect had a composite weighted mean of 2.52, and the decision-making skills of Grade 12 Accountancy, Business, and Management (ABM) students had a composite weighted mean of 2.98. The effect on the stress level of grade 12 ABM students was moderate, with a composite weighted mean of 3.06. The effect on the self-confidence of Grade 12 ABM students was minimal, with a composite weighted mean of 2.12. The respondents indicated that following the rules can keep students out of trouble and focus on what is important (46 respondents or 92%). Their descriptions of the respondents varied, with the age range of 18–20 years old. The majority of the respondents were female, and a majority of their parents are high school graduates. The respondents had varied behavior, which moderately affected the psychological, emotional, and social aspects of the students. The findings revealed that respondents’ behavior was experienced occasionally. Peer pressure moderately affected the self-confidence of students. A guide will be designed to lessen the impact on the behavior of the students.
