Abstract

Avocados, sourced from the Persea Americana tree, are rich in monounsaturated fats, vitamins, and vital minerals. Eating them can improve digestive health, ease depression symptoms, prevent bone loss, promote heart health, and may lower the risk of cancer. A varied diet of fruits and vegetables is linked to lower rates of obesity, diabetes, heart disease, and overall mortality. Combining avocado with melted white chocolate creates a delicious and nutritious mixture, making it a fantastic option for culinary innovation. This study employs a descriptive quantitative research design, aiming to systematically gather information about the phenomena, conditions, or variables surrounding the topic under investigation. Descriptive research is a type of quantitative research that focuses on describing characteristics of a population or phenomenon without influencing it. The study surveyed 207 third-year Bachelor of Science in Psychology students currently enrolled at Bestlink College of the Philippines, selected from a population of 445 using quota sampling. Quota sampling is a non-probability sampling method where the population is segmented into mutually exclusive sub-groups, and judgment is used to select subjects from each segment based on a specified proportion. ​ The results show that participants were generally pleased with the combination of Smash avocado and melted white chocolate. However, they suggested improving the flavor balance, particularly by enhancing the bitterness. Respondents gave positive ratings for the acceptability of the Smash avocado with melted white chocolate in terms of texture, taste, and appearance. The average rating for texture was 2.83, indicating that participants are satisfied with this aspect of the product. The taste received an average rating of 3.10, reflecting a good level of satisfaction. Additionally, the average rating for appearance was 3.35, demonstrating a high degree of satisfaction with this feature of the product. The findings indicate that respondents were satisfied with the Smash avocado wrapped in melted white chocolate and acknowledged its benefits for students. However, few reported being in good health. The researcher aims to improve study methods and product development, hoping that the insights gained will benefit future researchers.
